February 24, 2005Bio
Life is amazing and one should take some time out to feel it in real. For that you'll have to take a first step in real and that is "One hour or one day or one week" just for you and your dreams to come true and feel yourself that you are being alive. The bottom line is "I am a perpetual traveller in a sense that I've spend few years of my life wandering in small towns and now I broke the Ice and of course boundaries to meet and see new cultures/peoples and learn from them". My trip to Mysterious China starts on 23 Feb 05 when i packed my back pack and hand over my apartment keys to my friend and said " Take good care of this baby for a while I ll be back soon :) " and put on my boots and hit the road. btw i still got that boarding pass number let me write it :P though its not that imprtant but still it means alot to me atleast.. ;) Qater airways boarding pass from Doha to Shanghai PVG Qater Airways... Board time 2314 23Feb QR 888 Class Economy 2359. anyways the flight took off from dubai airport and landed in doha airport after one hour time and then there was another connecting flight after two hours. From doha flight took off and landed at pudong airport shanghai exactly after eight hours and when we came out of the airport the local time was 1235pm on 24Feb 05. It was a cold day though cloudy and rainy and we came out of the airport and smoked a cig and then search was on for a taxi or a bus.. it took us almost an hour to figure out to opt for taxi or bus or else...anyways its a very long story how we come to that conclusion of hiring taxi :) i share this memory some other time .. anyways we hired the taxi and then we went to Captain Hostel which located on the Fuzhou Lu near The Bund. We made it to that place in the after noon i.e 1535pm and checked in and put our laggage there and went to bank to change the currency :P Tip : whenever you are on the trip kindly have some local currency it will help you alot to move around for sure :P just incase you forgot to change the currency do it on airport at once other wise you ll come across some bad experiences for sure :p Tip : Atleat you should know where you are going and where you ll stay ? what is wheather like and how you ll make it to that place? you should know the name of the place in the local language and if its place like china one should have a guide book plus telephone number of the place where you are going to spend your time for a while... Ok ok ok i know you are not here to read tips you know many tips much more than me :p anyways.. when we came back to our hostel we had our lunch and hit the beds to take a nap :p. Then i said to myself let have a walk ... so put on my boost and gloves and cap and came out of the Hostel and raom around and most of the people who looked at me "whispered to each other and smiled ofcourse" the best jesture and universal language of Smile helped me alot while i was walking down the streets of Shanghai. All of sudden it came to my mind why not look for a map of the city or a guide book but unfortunately where ever i went there was one simple jesture "No" :( none of the people that i came across during that walk understand English anyways my search for Mandarin Book was of no use came back to my hostel by that time my friend was on his feet too and he said whats the plan? i said you better have your meal then we ll ve a walk for sure.. he had his meal and said "Lets go out " so the first place we visited was The Bund. Its hardly five minutes walks from the hostel to that area and its a lovely place in a sense that its situated on the bank of the River .. it separates Shanghai into two parts one is called Pudong area and the other is Pujiang area .. Pudong is newly established commercial area there you ll find beautiful sky scrappers and in Pujiang you ll see old archetecture beautiful master peices if you have a keen observation and if you have interest in the archetecture you ll love this area for sure.. On The Bund we had over first picture taken by a local then i said to my friend we need a cam for sure :p and he said ofcourse.. anyways we spend an hour there and hit back to hostel. Comments
