I wasn’t certain whether to return to teaching or not.
I was on a space vessel from the future, waiting among a wretched few. The waves threatened to capsize the ark that contained the survivors of the human race.
“LEFT!”
I felt the weight of the person to my side sway deftly to my right.
“RIGHT!”
Two passengers careened into me, sending me against the railing, barely missing the head of the ship’s crew.
More than fifty people rocked back and forth, some falling, some crashing, and the lucky few grasping to the railings.
We didn’t see water rush down the corridors, but some of us felt a bit exhausted after the latest warning from the captain.
When the ship stabilized, some of us chose to stand. Those that were tired, remained on the ground, waiting for instructions.
O, how I longed for my bed in 2008.
“Just to let you know,” came the director’s voice. “Obama has been elected as the 44th president of the United States.”
At once, the crew threw up their hands and cheered.
