London Bombs

Today I awoke to a miserable drizzly day. Sunshine had been forecast but the day has turned out a lot darker than just the weather.
Today London was bombed by Al-Qaeda.
The latest is of 7 tube explosions and 1 bus bombing.
The whole underground has been closed down. Buses were stopped in Zones 1 & 2.
The Prime Minister has arrived back in the capital from the G8 summit.
People have been warned against traveling to London.

The battle has reached our doorstep. In fact it has pushed the door open and come right in.
I don't work right in central London and don't have to catch a train to work so have been fortunate enough to not be at risk. But for the milllions who commute everyday in this major city, todays events will have shaken up more than a few people.

When such events happen so close to home, in your city in fact it maks you think. It stuns you. I could'nt consentrat at work and neither could most of my collegues who were frantically ringing loved ones to see if they were ok. Of course we know that not everyone escaped the terror alive and that makes the bombing all the more scary. It could have been anyone. It's easy to sit at home and watch bombs going off in far away places. But for it to happen in our city makes you think. It could happen anytime.
