March 08, 2005Barcelona, such a beautiful horizon
Barcelona!!! What am amazing place. This place is just a manifestation of creativity. The place thrives on an artistic flare which can be seen in the architecture and found in the way of life many people live in Barcelona. I had been there several years back for a day trip while on holiday in Calella de la Costa, a resort town about an hour north of Barca. This time I was about to spend 4 days in the magnificent and attempt to experience as much of the Catalan city as humanly possible before cramps and the sort set in. Right, we need tickets to Barca and a hostel. Cheap is always number one on the agenda, I don’t like to be cheap on that issue!! I’m fairly comfortable with roughing it a little, taking a few knocks for the sake of a few pennies. Basically Easy jet has sold out and prices starting at £100 Stansted to Barcelona return were not great. We had seen some package breaks on Expedia and lastmnute.com. They started at about £160 for 3 nights including flight but staying in a hotel a good days walk from central Barcelona, if you know what I mean! So we decided to go with the independent route, and arranging stuff ourselves instead of pouring hard earned pounds into the fat cats pockets of internet travel sites. Comments
