T Minus 44 days and counting
Well I start my blog with 44 days before I embark on what I hope to be a life changing experience. My house is nearly ready to start advertising for a renter. My pile of stuff is slowly shrinking (Thank You Craigslist!). My anticipation level is rocketing off the charts. My itinerary is as follows:
May 1st – Off to New York to spend what may well be my last sporting event until my return. A weekend series between my Seattle Mariners and the despised New York Yankees. I hope to get over and check out ground zero for a sobering reality check.
May 5th – Its on to Reykjavic , Iceland where I will be spending about a month exploring the youngest, geologically speaking, country. Trekking the fjords, dancing with waterfalls and maybe even a ride on an Icelandic horse.
June 5th – A ferry from Seyðisfjorður will take me to the Faroe Islands where I’ll knock about for two weeks before its off to…
June 18th – Ireland! Another ferry will bring me to Aberdeen Scotland where I’ll travel overland to Belfast. I plan on working two weeks with the WWOOF organization and two weeks on a cycling tour.
July 15 – Portugal. Arriving by train in Porto, I’ll be spending two weeks at a Portuguese language school before exploring the country on my own.
August 15th – Next on the list is a month in the Grecian Isles. Another week-long WWOOF stay and then its island hopping in the Mediterranean!
September 15th – This commences my train hopping portion of my travels. Exploring Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Hungary, Slovakia, The Czeck Republic, Poland, Romania, Bulgaria, and Turkey.
December 15th – Flying out of Istanbul my next destination is Bangkok, Thailand. For the next two months I’ll be shuttling around SE Asia, including Cambodia, Vietnam and Thailand.
February 15 – Its off to Australia where I plan on doing a walkabout. Ayers Rock and the Great Barrier reef are just a couple of things on the list to see.
March 15th – New Zealand calls. I plan on doing some extensive WWOOFing during my visit. I plan on being here a coupe of months.
May 15th – Cook Islands. Well my journey is about to end and what better way than to kick it on the beach and chill for a couple of weeks. White sands, blue water and…
June 1st – Back to reality.
