El Primero

Sauf que ma chere hermana, y peut etre pero ey mama mio, almost personne will comprend mon particular smorgasbord patois. Nonetheless, n'import quand the occasion strikes me, yo will damn well escrivar comme yo damn well veux.

That said... I'm holed up in Singapore at the moment, having arrived here last night. I anticipate being here for several days before I make a forray into other parts Asian.

Life is certainly cheaper here than in Australia/NZ: I can get by on under $15 a day - but who would want to. I have modern conveniences at my disposal - such as this high speed internet - but also the ability to live on el cheapo. I'm going to make an attempt to get this blog up and running before I head out, but knowing me, that may well not happen.
I'm going to attempt to hit up the Singapore Yacht Club for a dock walk this afternoon... there's a possibility of picking up work in this area from here (or so I've been led to understand). I've already sent off a bunch of emails to boat owners on the off chance that I get something back from them.

The alternate plan so far is to potentially link up with Josh in Bali in early March. I have several options for doing that and am currently musing over them.
1. I could make my way by bumboat and ferry either all or part of the way from Singapore. This involves much time and patience, but will be quite the ride and very cheap.
2. I could fly round trip from KL for < $100. Given the train fiasco - which I will relate later and backpost - I may well choose this option. Don't know yet. The hostel here is called "The Inn Crowd" and is located smack dab in the middle of Little India in the heart of SG (Singapore). It's a small, meaning cramped, but lovely little joint, though the living arrangements leave a touch to be desired. I am in in one of the "smaller" dorms which I get to share - lucky me - with 17 other sweating, snoring, occasionally smelly people. Now usually I don't mind this arrangement with up to a total of 8 persons, so this is pushing it for me. I only have to put up with it for a while though, as most other countries have affordable single rooms. (MATT: you would LOVE the toilets we get to share!) So, I must make off for the book store and do some research into travel options... then it's off to the sailing club to see if I might get lucky. I'm told that I should have my CV in hand, but having never made one, and being opposed to the whole man-on-paper dooda anyway, I will do without for the time being. Should matters prove otherwise, I suppose I will have to give it a go. OK. That sums up posting numero uno. Oh yeah... check out this website, I can't believe I didn't think of this first!! http://www.wherethehellismatt.com/dancing.htm
