March 05, 2005Mexico finito - moving on
Hello! (michal) Our Mexican adventure came to the end, we just came back from Oaxaca and are stying for a night in Mexico City before we will catch the tommorows flight to Costa Rica! It is difficult to summarise the Mexico experience in a few words, for sure we will have to digest it a bit and the comparison with the other South American countries will be important too! Well, for sure it is a place that can be proud of many many different cultures that trandescend almost everywhere you go; antcient cites, the spirits of Mayas, Aztecs, Toltecs and Zapotecs are present together with the ghosts of Spaniards and creol, local culture. Great food - even though not all of our choices were the best, Mexico´s cuisine has a lot to offer, not only grasshoppers :) Before we came here we had some kind of very misty stereotype of Mexico, thinking that we are coming from a better and richer world, well, tough luck, in many ways Mexico is more simillar to the latino version of the USA than to our Central-Eastern European republics. Finally, sadly we didnt have too many chances to meet (talk) with real Mexicans. It would be so great if we could stay for a night in a Mexican house! Well, we just have to live the fact that we are regular tourists, like hundreds of the other ones crowding Mexican cities..! Hast Luego, they are closing the internet place! :) Posted by Michal & Silvena on March 5, 2005 03:15 AM
