120 Day Anniversary 9/10/2005

90dayanniversary.jpg

Email sent to many on September 9, 2005.

"As I sit in Morroco, one day before my 4 month travel anniversary, I
smile and reflect.....

1 first and now,too many, stays in a hostels...later,
1 Camera broken...later,
1 fall down marble steps...later,
...causing...1 Hospital visit...later,
1 shot in the butt...later,
1 lost passport...later,
1 border control from hell...later,
1 stolen wallet...later,
1 stolen money experience...later,
1 pack of Costco tums...later,
1 WAY TOO heavy backpack...later,
2 crossings to the African continent...later,
1 loved filled care package from friends...later,
1 Pricy Riggs visit...later,
1 Niece birth missed...later,
10's of wetones packs...later,
100's of new friends made...later,
1000's of miles crossed...later,
1,000,000's of steps walked...later,

and life is great!

I have made it through all the trials and tribulations
that ruin one's experience with no breakdowns and
hopefully a stronger, more tranquil and humorous
spirit.

Optimistic Note: Since I have already checked off "THE
TOP 10 REASONS...TO GO HOME", I am of the believe they
will not repeat themselves throughout the rest of the
journey. Even as I write that statement, I can hear
the family laughing.

Regardless, as my journey continues... I have no
regrets and I am still of the belief that most people
are good. I am thankful for the outreach, education,
kindness and laughter that has been bestowed to me. It
warmth me over!

As I prepare to enter the true African continent, I am
filled with much apprehension and curiousity. The
smells, colors, people, food, culture all entice me
with energy and hope. Hope for safety, energy for the
adventure to come.

I have applied for some volunteering opportunties in
Africa and I can only hope that I am strong enough to
accept both the love and heartbreak that may be
involved.

I arrive in Ghana on September 20th and I depart from
Cape Town on November 10th. If it tickles your fancy
to get on a plane or you know anyone in Africa that
would like to join, assist, or prepare me for the
journey to come...I welcome any and all guidance.

All my love,"
