August 07, 2005Egypt in August.....
Egypt in August, WHAT was I thinking????? Written Journal, Ajgust 4, 2005 Cairo, Egypt With guidance from other fellow travelers....I find Egypt crowded, hassle overloaded, interesting and hot. I am in day 5 and the weather is cooler TODAY at 42 Celcius. I have made a treck to the dessert and learned that parts of my body could sweat that I never knew existed. The dessert is a place where the smallest gust of wind (that could not ruffle a feather) feels like air conditioning. The first night, I happen to be the only guest at the camp. Apparently everyone else was a bit wiser than I. Just when I was wondering why I made this trip..the cook, reception desk, cleaner and host of the camp took out his drum and I sat on the prayer rug with the driver and his friend as they sang local folk songs. As I clapped and sweated.....I realized why I came.
