Upon unemployment, I decided to sell things I didn’t need and I posted CD’s for sale on Craig’s list.

I had serious offers and then those purchasers recommending me to lower the price. One woman wrote and said she wanted 100 CD’s and wondered if I would consider a bulk price. As we negotiated, she mentioned that the CD’s were being purchased for her nieces and nephews in Ghana.

As a want-to-be traveler, we stroke up a conversation. As I went through my story of being single, recently laid off, just turned 40 and a dream to travel, she gave encouragement. Within days, she replied and stated that her family in Ghana would host me.

Since that first e-mail encounter, I’ve sold her CD’s, met her and her lovely family, developed a friendship and created my dream. I am so very grateful to her for the inspiration and her amazing personality.

Her kindness motivated me to make my dream come true and I created “PAWN” Paulina’s Around the World Network. “PAWN” was established to create a network of hosting or contact network through friend and family in order to provide my family ease of mind that I am with someone known and safe. To date I have been fortunate enough to have “PAWN” opportunities in England, Spain, Norway, Sweden, Italy, Poland, India, New Zealand, Ghana, Vietnam, Philippines, Germany, Turkey, and possibly Israel, Egypt and Belgium, Brussels, Zimbabwe, Brussels and Croatia.

It’s amazing the kindness and openness everyone has shown and I am looking forward to meeting all my new “PAWN” friends along the way. Thank you to everyone for the support, inspiration and kindness.
