A day in Xi’an
Last night the crew at BackPax hosted an Expat event with a Mexican theme. What a great time for them to launch their new menu and mark the opening of the hostel’s restaurant. The food was great, as everything had been made by hand. Yes, from the tortillas down to the refried beans, NOTHING was pre-bought. The hostel was swelling with people, as way more showed up than was expected.
This morning everyone seemed to sleep in, trying to recover from party mode. Although I was up at 6am, I did go back to bed until about noon, which was great!
There is nothing better than a relaxing day in a cool place. This afternoon took me on a shopping adventure with Ariel to Vanguards. I have never met a girl who loves to go grocery shopping as much as Ariel does. She made a truly fun time topped off with me entertaining some little Chinese boy in the checkout line with … what for it… wiggling me ears! haha. He loved it so much he kept hitting me in the leg to do it again, and again, and again!!
This evening I accompanied Ariel to her apartment here in Xi’an to collect some of her things before walking through several dark streets and alleyways to a little Korean place that she LOVES! haha. The food was ok. This being my first experience with Korean food. The experience of walking through the streets of what could possibly be Korean Town (Is there even such a thing?), was better for some reason. They were more polite and there was no staring!!
I’m really falling in love with Xi’an and the people here at BackPax. They’re all so fun and Ariel is just too cute for words!
