April 8th (Friday) we got to Phuket Town and booked into Thalong Guesthouse. The room was big and had a large balcony overlooking the street we also got air conditioning and breakfast included for 280 Baht almost 6 euro. This was extremely cheep usually and air con room is much more expensive as they are all trying hard in Phuket to get Tourists back.

We had a walk into town and had lunch in a local deli rob had his first taste of Tum Yum soup a Thai favorite I don’t think it was a big hit with Rob but he finished it but hasn’t had it since so that speaks for itself really. We spent the rest of the day wandering about town looking at the stalls and did some email and blog time. That night we wandered around town for a while trying to find the night market but we couldn’t so we had dinner in a nice Thai restaurant.

April 9th (Saturday) we got on a local bus to Karen beach. It is amazing how much can be done I just over three months every where is up and running and you wouldn’t know that anything had happened to look at the town. All that Phuket is short now is tourists. It is a good time to visit Phuket right now as it so quiet the beaches are practically deserted and accommodation is so cheep there. We had lunch in Karen and spend the rest of the day on the beach. Later we went back into Phuket and had dinner in a restaurant called La maison (Thai food not French) it was really nice and there was a singer who also played the piano. We then went back to our balcony with a drink.Tommorrow we head to Surattani to get a train to Bangkok.
