I posted this video a few weeks ago featuring the guy who made “Hugs” a worldwide movement. Well, hugs have come to Salem! It’s organized by the folks at Couchsurfing.com. Their announcement:

HOWDY!

You likely know that there is a worldwide movement to
give free hugs in public places.

It’s time for FREE HUGS SALEM!!!

I’ve got a sign. You can bring one made of cardboard and
a sharpie. Or just show up. It’s the World Beat
event… So there ought to be an unlimited amount of
people to hug

There are no rules
except that you give real, hearty hugs. Liberally.

MEETING at 3 sharp.
June 28th, 2008

Directions: Downtown - WEST side, next to the river, just south of the West Salem bridges (I-22). Meet at the NORTH end of the park right outside of the Gilbert House. (entrance to the north parking lot is on Union and Front st. The house is obvious when you get there. And I’ll be holding a huge sign

If you come later, it should be easy enough to find us
in the park.
