Cycling In Italy The Settimana Ciclistica Lombarda

The “Settimana Ciclistica Lombarda” is a professional cycling tour of northern Italy, formed in stages held in the streets of Lombardy, in particular Bergamo.

The race borns in the 1970 from an idea of Gianni Sommariva, the current director of the competition.

The race until 1997 took the name of “Cycling Week Bergamasca”, and then mutate into “Week Cycling Lombarda” (Settimana Ciclistica Lombarda).

Among the winners of the event there were great champions like Lance Armstrong, Pavel Tonkov (3 wins) and Serhiy Honchar (2 wins).
