July 26, 2004Fiestas Patrias?
Last night, I had a beer at the hostel with 2 guys I met in the morning - Sando from Lima and Yury originally from Lima but living in London. In the bar, I saw Frances, again! This was the 5th time we had run into each other, by chance. She was with a friend, who had to leave later, so she joined us. She had just gotten to Cusco that day. We decided to meet up today. We really just ran a lot of errands. After running around, we headed to the Plaza de Armas, where there was a parade going on. I think it is the beginning of the Fiestas Patrias - the Independence day celebrations. It was really neat just to hang out and see the parades. There were so many people lined up on the steps of the Cathedral and on the street! I will miss the actual Independence Day as I will start my Inca Trail trek on the 28th. Tonight, Frances and I are going to try to catch a show at the Qosqo Centro de Arte Nativo, and get dinner. I love Cusco, and feel like I could spend so much time here!!! Comments
Hey Marisa! It's so funny to read your comments about Cusco and the Sacred valley - as it turns out that I did the exact same stuff! The only difference is that I did the sacred valley tour after doing the inka trail - and therefore found it rather dull (Compared to the many sights on the trail!). So it was probably smart of you to do it before the trail - and get things in an increasingly exciting order! ;) Have a fun rest of your trip! Markus Posted by: Markus on July 29, 2004 05:37 AMHave fun on the Inca Trail! :) I wish you could send or post some pictures of what you're seeing. Of course I'm sure you'll also show me allllllll of them when you get home. ;) Posted by: Sean on July 29, 2004 06:19 PMMARISA!!! i just read up on your entire adventure in South America!! Sounds like you're having an amazing experience! You're such a brave, independent chica! I can't wait to see your pictures too!! BTW, I'm saying goodbye to Big Blue! i'm quitting next wk. =) Julie Posted by: Julie on August 1, 2004 02:18 AMI think pretty much everyone does all those things in Cusco, though! Itīs just so common. On the trail, I was kind of īruinedīout, though! Julie, youīre quitting Big Blue?!? Yeah, letīs unite! ;) Although I didnīt quit, they just got rid of me...I still feel your pain. What are you going to do next? Can you believe Iīve already taken over 700 pictures, and a few short videos?!?! Posted by: Marisa on August 4, 2004 08:36 PMOnly 700 pictures? I figured there'd be more. ;) I can't wait to see them.
