July 08, 2004Not quite the Plateau
July 6, 2004 - I decided I´d go for an "easy" hike today. It was called the Plateau. As I was nearing the cemetary, Bernard, a Canadian I met the night before, said that they were going to do the Plateau hike as well, and said that I could join them. The group was Bernard, Christine, and Christine´s two daughters - Masha and Kim -- from Montreal. They´re a pretty fun group, and we took it really nice and slow. A perfect pace for me! We actually took the wrong path, and ended up on a mountain across the valley from the plateau, so we could see the plateau from above. The views were amazing! We just walked around the mountain a bit, admired the stunning views. We stopped for a lunch at a place overlooking a valley. After lunch, we just rested, layed down under the Andean sun, while Bernard played the harmonica. The 1 hour hike ended up to be several nice, relaxing hours for us. As we headed back to the Inn, we saw a small group of school children, who were really happy to have their photos taken. In the evening, I found out that there was a llama born earlier in the day at the Inn. I went to see it, knees wobbly and eyes still squinty. It was so cute!! Comments
