June 30, 2004Tomorrow, tomorrow, I love ya, tomorrow...
Well, tomorrow's the big travel day! And it's going to be a long one at that. Leaving Austin at 7:00 am, and heading to Quito around 9:30pm via Houston, Mexico City, and Panama City! Strangely enough, I don't feel nervous at all. I usually start to get the jitters before my trips. I'll really hit me tomorrow! I've booked 3 nights in Quito at the Secret Garden hostal in the old city, for $5/night. I'm going to chance it with a taxi rather than the hostel airport pickup, since it's cheaper. Might as well get used to it from the start!! I'm pretty excited, just hope the altitude doesn't kill me in the beginning! Comments
Bon Voyage If you get a cab at the airport, wait till you get outside before you succumb to a driver's solicitation. (You will be mobbed!) Might be best to get a look at the vehicle first before you choose. Some of those taxis can be pretty run down! Negotiate the fare up-front, sit back and relax.. Posted by: Sandy on June 30, 2004 09:22 PMThis trip is going to be great. I have always wanted to take a trip to South America. Good luck on the trip! And make sure you go see Machu Picchu. amazingly, the taxi drivers are awesome here. they see that i'm travelling alone, and go the extra mile to make sure I'm safe. Give good advice, and have yet to be ripped off! Ecuadorians are so friendly and beautiful! Posted by: Marisa on July 4, 2004 11:24 PM |
