I've always been a late starter...

..So why change the habit of a lifetime. I am far too lazy to update all the stuff that I got up to in SE Asia, so I won't bother. Suffice to say I had such an amazing time that not a day goes by that I don't want to go back there.

This feeling may be perpetuated by the fact that Jon and I are living the lives of working people in Perth and quite frankly it doesn't compare to tubing down the Mekhong, eating mystery food on a table in a Cambodian farmhouse, sending 'krathongs' down the river for the rains festival in Chang Mai, snorkelling at one of the seven most beautiful islands in the world and so much more.

Having said that, there are many smaller and less forthcoming gems in Australia than I give it credit for. For example, we went for a bike ride yesterday (excercise seems like a normal thing to do here) and I stopped by a palm tree which lined the riverbank to admire the 10 or so brightly coloured lorikeets frolicking in the fronds while a couple of white parakeets looked on. I'm not a bird fancier by a longshot, but I have spent more time looking at birds over the last 3 months than the whole of my life! (okay, for the record, I have NOT turned lesbian).

The sky is also a constant source of amazement, it is the cleanest blue you could imagine. I am constantly taking photos of things with the blue backdrop (and my photos are probably going to be VERY boring).

Anyway, I am supposed to be setting our scene here so this is it;
I am cleaning caravans, and Jon is doing some archaeology work. We managed to get a 2 week trip up the west coast last month and had a fantastic time. We saw the Pinnacles, dolphins, met the prince of hutt River Province, saw a 6 foot ray whilw snorkellling and stayed in the hottest place in Australia (at the time it was anyway). We will be at our backpackers in Perth for another 3 weeks or so while Jon's job continues and then we are driving along the south coast to Sydney.

If I don't update until then, please don't be angry, you wouldn't want to read about how tired of cleaning caravans I am though would you?
