we’ve just returned from a trek to Annapurna base camp in the Nepalese Himalaya. The trek was quite strenuous, but rewarding. Lots of up and down through incredibly steep river valleys carved out by glaciers. we were slowed down by all the emerging wildflowers that we had to photograph. orchids, rhodies, primrose, jack-in-pulpit, etc. by the time we reached the base camp at 4,130m (13,500ft) the wildflowers were absent as spring had not reached these heights yet. The glacial landforms at basecamp were amazing and took up more of our attention than the surrounding peaks. we also saw several awesome avalanches (from a distance). tomorrow we’re going to Kathmandu…
