What was all that about?

Tuesday, September 26th, 2006

Anyone who’s had a look here in the past few days, would have noted that everything since San Diego had disappeared. Hopefully no one went too apoplectic with grief and concern, but if you’d started you can stop, since it’s (almost) all back now.

What happened was this: Boots’n'All, the site that hosts my ‘blog had some server problems and a whole lot of entries (from everyones blogs on the site) disappeared. I’ve managed to dig up copies of all my entries and replace them here. The only thing that’s vanished for good are the comments that people made. Which is a shame, because I really like getting comments.

So, both to show that I actually DO read them and to add a bit more meat to this post, a couple of REPLIES to comments:

1. (For Ewan) In the eighth game of Crusader Rex in LA Nick played the Saracens and I the Franks. Since that’s horribly against the natural order of things I wasn’t REALLY counting it. I should’ve known that someone (like you) would notice the discrepancy though.

2. For Christi and Elaine, I did have a few more pictures of myself, but they were backlit or blurry or whathaveyou, so I didn’t include them. Just to sate your appetite for images of me, here’s one more:

Me in Totara Creek
Me partway my hop across Totara Creek during my late August Tramp in Tararua Forest Park

Thanks for reading everyone… I know it’s been a while, and re-creating the old entries slowed me down a bit, but I should have a new account of life in Wellington for you by the end of the week.

First Fortnight in Wellington

Wednesday, September 20th, 2006

You know I’m hard up for creative ideas when I return to alliterative titles.

So… what have I been doing with myself over the past couple weeks in Wellington?

This will certainly be far from comprehensive since:
A. A fully complete description would probably be boring
B. I haven’t been keeping notes and
C. Really that’s about it, but I started making a list, and a list with only two items looks a bit silly, so I have to include this bit of nonsense as the third.

Before leaving Auckland, I’d made arrangements to stay with Oliver’s parents for a bit upon arriving in Wellington. However, I’d arrived a day earlier than originally planned, relatively late in the afternoon. And further, after three days of tramping, my ... [Continue reading this entry]

On the Road, Wellington Bound

By the time I left Auckland I had somewhere between seven and ten days to get down to Wellington in time to start work (I wasn’t sure at that point, and was waiting for my employers to make up their ... [Continue reading this entry]
