Houseboat Living

Well I was greeted with great big hugs and shouts of Zuni, the Kashmiri word for full moon. I guess that's there were of saying that I'm as white as the moon! Once again, I'm staying on HB (houseboat) Dunhill and just relaxing and becoming part of the family that I was once apart of last year. So many tourist that I don't even get my own room... I'm sleeping in the kitchen floor with the rest of the family! I've tried to cook but I don't use nearly enough salt for their liking so I'm stuck with doing dishes! It's been really very cold this last week and rainny but in a comfortable Canadian way! I'm enjoying it. Yesterday I went to Gulmarg with some friends to do some mountain trekking but couldn't find a reasonable priced room so we came back within the same day! Today was laundry day... I'm still so much slower than everyone else when it comes to hand washing in Dal Lake. But hey, at least my clothes are getting clean.

To answer a few questions... Srinagar is beautiful. Yes, lots of military around but without it would probably be less safe. If I say anymore I'm sure to freak out my family... but all is well and I'm glad to be back here.

Linds,
Rachel's reference to "day" is really me! I'm going to her graduation and spending a week in TO, 19 to 26. Hoping to bunk in with a few friends in the early going, then, getting a motel for the last few days.
Too much to try and pack in in a week. So the first few days will be strictly with Rachel. Hopefully, we'll see OCAD together and maybe look at the residences that they offer.
Big day of course is Thurs, the grad day. I'm taking film and new batteries, so I shouldn't have "THAT" problem again!
Heidi bought me a Weber grill for an early Father's Day gift, of course, she just wanted to get out of making some suppers I fear. But it was nice to taste the chicken burnt like I always make it: much like tandoori without the redness I think!

Glad you are well. You are "sounding" much healthier in your dispatches from HB Dunhill! Time is flying by isn't it. 9 days and you will hit your birthday, I won't reveal the exact age but suffice to say, I'll miss celebrating it with you, as I miss celebrating Rachel's on the 11th. Have yourself a terrific birthday and send a postcard if you have an opportunity.

Love dad
