May 14, 2004Nomad no more
Back in Delhi... and Dad... I am not employing a service! It just so happens that I hung out with a group of guys last year and I've met up with them again this year! It's kind of nice actually, I feel less of a nomad here than at home sometimes because wherever I go I keep bumping into one of the guys that I met earlier. As for internet... there are little 'cyber-cafes' tucked about the alleys. Here in Delhi, it's really easy to find internet access and it is only 10Rs (rupees) per half hour (and to think that 1 american dollar comes to about 44Rs... at least that is today's going rate!). In Rishikesh, internet was harder to come by. There are still plenty of 'cyber-cafes' but the connection was often down (it's really just a little town compared to Delhi). Anyway, I'm back here in Delhi though I've booked a rail ticket to Bangalore for tomorrow night. Until then, I will continue to 'mess' around here. I decided to look into records/archives of the Llewellyn family... but I've hit a brick wall. I went to the British Council but they turned out to be an academic institution and will have nothing to do with records of the British. So off I went to the Canadian Embassy for answers... but I was told that I would have to pay 1700Rs for two days of paperwork (what kind of paperwork they didn't specify) and then hire a professional. Frustrated and hungry my brit pal and I bought some hot potatoe cakes for which we paid a pretty penny of 25Rs (the going rate is only 10Rs but being white and no other food vendors around and being really hungry we paid it and tipped with a scowl!). Aah, the life of a white girl in Delhi! Comments
hey Thanks for clearing the mystery up. So, do they have postcards of the mighty Ganges, where it is clean? Bottled water, a necessity, eh?
