DON’T LOOK DOWN….THE CLIFFS OF MOHER
After leaving Doolin, we took the bus to the ferry at Talbert town, and crossed over the river Shannon, saving a longer 3 hour drive around the peninsula. We're on our way to Galway (land of the 14 tribes....) but first stopped off to see the famous Cliffs of Moher, featuring 700 foot sheer cliffs down to the sea. The walk up is brisk and cold but the views are worth it. It's just before sunset and the colorful shadows beckon the evening’s arrival. Even the raindrops parted for a bit allowing for a few good photo ops. After seeing the cliffs, I continued north to "The Burren", an ancient place filled with thousands of acres of limestone, which shifted and receded after the last Ice Age, leaving many layers of rock exposed. This abundant fossil area helps archeologists learn about the areas flora and fauna preserved under the many layers of rock.
