October 10, 2004The decision, The Cockroach, and the Barbeque
Not feeling 100% this morning (must have been the food). I got up and went to pick up my pictures. They aren't good but I headed to the internet and uploaded them anyway. I bumped into Darryl outside he sad he couldn't remember leaving the bar but can remember sitting in someones living room (?!?!). He paid up his part of the bill before going off to get a different tattoo placed over his Danger Mouse logo on his shoulder (his initials are DM). I went looking for Tina and gave her her change from the last evening and we went for a drink (coke!) I told her I'd decided to head down to Phitsanulok and have a day trip to Sukhotai before going down to Bangkok overnight to be there on Saturday. There is a cockroach in my bathroom! I was just ready for a show and then there it was! sitting on the showerhead! I'm not talking your usual tidy little ting either! It was a good two inches long! Istepped out of the bathroom and covered up (for some reason this made me feel better!?!?) and decided to smash its head in with an empty water bootle. I gave it a mighty whack and it dropped from the showerhead and scuttled toward the door sending me running. I approached again and it scuttled off again. Conventional weapons didn't work, lets try chemical (George Bush can kiss my arse if he condemns me using it!). I got my bottle of DEET and gave it a spray, nothing, it seemed to use it as mouthwash. I didn't have any biological weapons and I couldn't get the plutonium through customs so I retreated, first round to it. Emboldened it decided to leave the bathroom and head under the wicker type cabinet in my room. Bad move! I lifted the cabinet and forceably dropped one of its legs on the terrifying monster, it squished with an audible 'Crunch'. Vistory is mine! time for a shower. I met up with Tina and Darryl and we went to an open bar in between our guesthouses that had a 'steak barbeque buffet'. We chucked a few steaks on ourselves and helped ourselves to pasta, salad, vag and sauces and such like, and then cut ourselves some slices from a basket of baguettes. Bread! it is strange what you miss and I was missing bread. I went back quite a few times for more and more slices. I decided against a dessert and had more bread. Tina and Darryl had to leave early (they'd supposed to have gone microlighting this morning but were too hungover and postponed it), so I headed to a bar and had my second beer of the night, while people watching.
