and for whatever reason it's easiest and least expensive to fly to Cairo directly from Berlin. So......no I haven't bought the ticket yet but once I do it's point of no return. So that means returning to Berlin, finding a place to stay which means writing more people and contacting those I stayed with before and grovelling. Then, I have to find a place in Cairo. Depending on where I go, I'll have to find more places to sleep. Considering I plan to be mobile on this trip, I don't want to have to send 400 emails. I definitely don't want to be getting off a plane and having no place to go. So.....more work.
And I am afraid. I'll be a lone Western sort of blond woman alone in this region of the world.....and my friends in Berlin told me the middle east is safe and so on, which I can see, but I am used to privacy (some) and the comforts of modern living. THailand? I don't know. It's hard to find good one way tickets and .........I really want to see Egypt. I also want to see Israel but it's difficult to travel between those countries. I have to make a decision soon, and I am afraid. I'm always afraid. But it's what I want.
