November 15, 2004berlin day 3
Spent some time with my travel companion in Berlin and his friend. We went to an Indian restaurant in Kreuzberg. Yes, all a good experience. Also he took me to the Reichstag which I in my ignorance barely knew anything about......and the history of everything was right there. Really I don't know how to react to this.......but.....I started thinking that I don't want to leave. I think occasionally I don't want to go home but still that's all I know. having my own place, my own bathroom (last night I flooded this guy's kitchen when I took a shower cause I didn't know you're supposed to push this drain pump button......I've never heard of that where I come from.....a TOTAL mess and one that made me for a moment think I just wanted to go home.......but that passed) knowing my way around having keyboards with the y, z, and ' in the places I'm used to clean air (people smoke everywhere here, ugh, I quit) conversely, it makes me want to smoke knowing the buses, trains, what street is where knowing where to get conditioner and toothpaste my own computer my cats my cell phone (I hate, despise making calls from phone booths) keys and locks I know how to work (this place I'm staying in has this wierd ancient lock and key and I spent a half hour trying to understand how it works, out in the cold) being able to communicate without problems hot weather and sun bodegas where I can pour my own coffee I definitely am glad I decided to go somewhere, but what an adjustment. OK things I like about here learning a new language the milk and yogurt and chocolate (far better here) meeting new people here the fact that the sun doesn't wear out my skin Comments
