June 05, 2005Zipping, Swinging and Monkeys
So I know its only been a day since my last posting, but we did some pretty cool stuff this morning. We went on a zip line tour and canopy walk. Waking up this morning we werenīt sure if the weather would hold for our canopy tour but luckily it did. We did, however have to change tour companies because the one we scheduled at yesterday had a guide get struck by lightening (he later died) so they werenīt doing tours for a while. Luckily it was really sunny out, so Carol and I felt pretty safe. There were about 15 platforms you went swinging through and some went over the entire forest....it was awesome. There was also a rope swing that you dropped about 15 or so feet and swung...kind of a bungee jump but much smaller and on a rope. Carol got some awesome pictures of me...this is just one good one. After our canopy tour, we went on a hike through the woods and over some cable brides. The coolest part was when Carol spotted some Howler Monkeys and they came right over in front of the bridge and one even came on the bridge. One was a realy large male and the other was a smaller female. Pretty cool so see in the wild and right in front of your face. Supposedly they will throw their poop at you if they are mad...but that didnīt happen...thank god. This pic is of the male. There was a Costa Rican couple watching with us and the man kept trying to get us to look at this really rare bird. I guess monkeys are pretty common for them....and Iīm just not that into birds. Right now we are just waiting out the rain once again and onto a bug place and dinner. Tomorrow (6-6) we are headed to the beaches!

Okay, Lauren, Seeing you guys in your gear reminds me of my climbing days, but I never saw any monkeys where I was hanging from ropes. Looks like great fun and excitement. Good luck with the bugs and the surf. Have Fun!! Posted by: Ken (Carol's Dad) on June 7, 2005 11:45 PMHey girls, wow you look like you're having an awesome time! I'm so jealous.
