May 22, 2005Barrio Latino sucks
On saturday I went shopping during the day. I went back to the shops in the Latin Quarter. I bought a french leather coat for about 200 us dollars, which is a pretty good deal. I also bought a couple french shirts, so i could fit in a little better and a pair of close toed shoes, so I could get in to the club. Everyone in paris wears dark colors. So i bought two black shirts that would help me blend in. I also got totally ripped off, I went to this little money exchange place in the latin quarter to change money. i saw a sign outside saying a good rate for exchange. I dont speak french so i couldnt read the rest of the sign, but the rate was good. I went in and exchanged 200 us dollars. They gave me 130 euros back (I should have gotten around 150) so i lost 20 euros for nothing. I tried to tell him i didnt want to do the exchange anymore but he said it was too late and that the transaction was already done, so that sucked. After shopping i bought a sandwich and gelato. They have hure sandwiches here, they are a pretty good deal. i got a foot long ham and cheese for 3 euros. After lunch i took a nap. For dinner we went out to eat again at a restaurant nearby. After dinner we went out again to barrio latino, we made sure everyone had closed toed shoes and would meet the dress code. So we took the metro over there and stood in like for about 45 minutes. When we got to the door we saw it was the same bouncer from last night. He wouldnt let us in again. He said that lindsay and I did not look old enough to get in (you have to be 18). This was total crap because all of us look old enough and all of us were at least 20. So Lindsay, Michelle, and I left. The others went in to the club. We went to another bar near our hotel in Montparnasse. It was called the Mustang bar. They played a lot of good music and we met a lot of people. We met a group of french guys that were really nice. We stayed at the bar til it closed at 5am and then went to bed. Comments
