Summer is here!

Wow, long time no update. Finals are over, meaning that summer is here! I'm finally entirely moved out of my campus apartment (and to my 3 wonderful roommates : I already miss you guys!!!!). So now I'm back home in small town USA with the fam until I leave for Costa Rica. I don't leave until June 18th. So Im just keeping myself busy until then by studying for GRE (which for some crazy reason i decided to take June 12th). Ive also been reading up on Costa Rica and talking to Jenna, the Costa Rica expert. What Ive learned....

-shake out all clothing, shoes and bed sheets before jumping in cuz apparently lots of little, and ok maybe some not so little, bugs, like to lurk in them...

-Be careful of leaving windows open: apparently certain people have been seen "fishing" in open windows for whatever they might be able to get ahold of.

-Only ride in "official" taxies...well duh.

-like in my host family's piso in Spain....no throwing toilet paper in the toilet. Messy situations and toilet overlflow could follow :-)

-many roads are one lane: ie- look out on bridges!

-and as Juan and me have discussed way too many times : Im going to try not to melt!! :-)

***Note: I take No responsibility for any of the above being incorrect....keep in mind people, Im not yet in Costa Rica....

Anyways, hope that didnt bore anybody too sleep. I'm getting super excited and can't wait to get down there and start work!
Back to GRE vocab....

Immunity

The semester is winding down, meaning summer can't be far away. Sooo, with a summer in Costa Rica fast approaching, I decided it might be a good idea to pay a vist to, as its known on our campus, McKill me (aka the student health center). After telling the doc where exactly I would be going and what I'd be doing, I discovered that apparently, at least according to him, Costa Rica is country in which I could catch a number of different diseases, most with names that I am incapable of pronouncing, Shcista what? In the end I ended up the hepatitis A vaccine, the hepatitis B vaccine, yellow fever, and typhoid fever immunizatios just to name a few. To top it all off I got a presrciption for 80 anti-malaria tablets. Fun times.

Gettin Started...

Welcome to my new Blog! After keeping journal after journal by hand while living and studying in Spain, Ive been inspired by Erik's Global trip 2004 Blog to give this a try. This could be interesting at first because, as many of you know, I'm not exactly great this tech stuff. This summer I will be headed south to Costa Rica to do an international internship. Time to get excited!!
