Busy Singapore

by Rachael

The heat is relentless, even oppressive and travelling with children means taking things more slowly, but we have still managed to pack a fair bit into our three days so far. As well as wandering around Little India, where we are based, we have made trips to Chinatown, Orchard Road, the riverfront, Raffles Hotel and Pulau Ubin.

The passionate proprietor of this teashop gave us a wonderful tea lesson!

Pulau Ubin ride

We hired bikes. We went up hills. In the stinking hot. And in a stinking hot thunderstorm. While we sheltered from the rain, which did not stop (so we ended up riding on in it), we saw monkeys in the trees. Also came across mozzies, massive ants, a hornets’ nest and heard amazing birdcalls (something we have been missing waking to the sound of in the city – partly because there seem to be very few birds, and partly because we are still waking at 4am before the birds!)
K10 commented, “I wish we could stay here and do this every day. It’s sooooo much fun.”
Certainly this 10km was more successful than the first training ride!!!! And on junk with dodgy gears, what’s more. Who knows what we could have done on good bikes?!

Glad the riding was successful…..great that you’ve been able to pack so much into just a couple of days. Cheap frogs! So are pig’s tendons a delicacy???!

Hi Guys! Awesome photos! sounds like Rob’s 1 star rating might be a bit generous for Alis, but I’m sure the experience is rated much higher!! Singapore is a fun place and you seem to be seeing a good range of sights! Rach i can understand avoiding white slimy matter i wouldn’t be too keen on the frogs either!! Take care and good luck with the next leg of your journey!
    love from the Frostys x
