May 08, 2005Nong Khai
After Pai, I visited a friend of a friend who ha been living in Nong Khai Thailand for two years. The days were fun filled and included being a guest with whom people could practice their English on a local radio station, crashing the end of a Thai dancing class an dsinging a few lines of Thai pop song Karaoke. It was interesting to hear about the Thai from someone who has lived their for a while. It seems they are quite jealous, possessive, and two-timing in their relationships. Since my time there, I have also determined that while Thai people are often very nice, I am not sure they deserve their land of smiles super friendly reputation. I get the sense that many of them just put on a guise and in 3 instances in one day, I had the very frustrating experience of someone averting their eyes and completely ignoring me when I was trying to work something out with them.
