April 15, 2005Happy New Year!
It is New Year in Cambodia and Thailand. I tried to get to Thailand for the water festival. They throw water and talcum powder at each other. My kind of holiday! It seemed like it would be impossible to get to Thailand or travel within it without reservations, so I decided to stay in Cambodia. In Siem Reap I went to a festival where the main entertainment seemed the abuse of what I can only assume was a gay midget due to his make-up, leather shorts and dangling earing in his right ear. Everyone road their motorbikes onto the festival grounds and right up to the stage. It was like a drive in concert. Here in Siem Reap, there is some water and talcum throwing. Kids cruise the street near the river on their motorbikes near the river and make noise. Families hang out in the park by the river and the biggest and most beatiful Wat in town is lit up. It is very nice. Except everything is either closed or more expensive. That's not so nice. Comments
