February 25, 2005Who's on the Road
I've met some interesting people during this leg of my trip and I thought I would take a moment to tell you about them. Peter, Lisalorie and Sammie- Super cool Dutch family who have traveled overland from Holland as they make their way to New Zealand where they are immigrating! Sammie is only 4. He is enthusiastic, good tempered and enjoying himself. He has been picking up Engllish along the way since he will need it in his new home. Benji- 66 year old English gentleman with a walking stick and blue blazer on the backpackers trail. Tom and Mick- New Yorkers complete with accent and attitude. Even thought I have never lived in NY and have lived in SF for 10 years, meeting them was like putting on a warm coat on a cold day. Both live in Hampton Bay Long Island. Tom is a carpenter/handy man who works 6 months a year and travels the rest. Mick is a bartender in South Hampton where he collects old money for 4 months and then travels the rest of the year. He also owns a house. Not a bad life for either of them. Comments
