February 11, 2005Luang Prabang
The town of Luang Prabang (LP) is a World Heritage Site. The French Colonial architechture is pepperred with many beautiful Wats. The Wats in LP are very well cared for and are a bit less shiny and glittery then in Thailand. They often have murals or mosaics depicting the life of Buddha or fold stories. My time in LP was spent with a group of people I met met on the slow boat. We were a lively pack of 6, give or take a few at any particular moment, and had great fun together. We went to a fantastic waterfall with a swimming hole, biked around town and got caught up in a parade of students on motos leaving school for lunch, passed the drying rice cakes, perused the the beatiful textiles at the local market and enjoyed some great meals. A good time was had by all. Comments
