June 15, 2005Volcan Santa Marie
Beth and I treked up Volcan Santa Maria last Saturday. We left at 4:30am, and started climibing at 5:00am. We did not get to the top until 9:45am. It was an intense hike that was crazy steep. This hike is the most difficult in Guatemala. Beth is used to hike like this, but I has never treked any camino like this, ever. Once we were at the top of the volcano, we were 12,000 feet high. From the top, we saw Volcano Santigo erupt right in front of us, it was like 10 miles away. The volcanic ash was above the sky line. It was the most amazing experience of my life. Comments
Great pictures. You girls have got to be having an amazing experience. Be careful with volcanic ash fallout. It harden like cement. Have fun be safe love you Posted by: Mom on June 21, 2005 04:04 PMYo ma, the volcano explodes every hour, so the ash is no deal really. On saturday, Beth and I are climbing the highest montain (well it is a volcano). I am stoked....more later. Posted by: Karen & Beth on June 22, 2005 03:13 PM |
