I'm still alive...ha.

Well, I must admit it's been a crazy past few days in Dunedin...we've done and seen a lot since I last wrote - but I've got to make it brief seeing as (gulp) I have class in a few minutes.

Let's see. Well for starters, last Wednesday we hiked Mount Cargill just outside of the city. It offers panoramic views of the Otago Harbour and its beaches. The greenery is amazing...one minute you'll be tramping among pines and the next among waterfalls and ferns. We officially saw the New Zealand Silver Fern (a rather uneventful experience for myself...though some of my friends thought it was worth a picture or two). On the hike up, a few of us girls really got to know each other fast by playing "hot seat," which is basically just a cover for a game that lets you ask a person anything within a 5 minute time period. It killed a few hours of the hike.
On Thursday, we hopped on a bus to tour the Otago Peninsula. We stopped at several beaches, chasms and countrysides. I saw my first seals and penguins of the trip...and took yet more pictures of sheep. I've decided it's a wise choice to limit yourself to one or two pics of sheep throughout your entire stay in NZ.
On Thursday night, mr. grand lake James rolled into town (literally, seeing that he biked from Christchurch in the dumping rain.) It would've been nice to have a car while he was in town so we could camp or something...but we made the most of it. Surfing. Rugby. Chillin. etc. It was more than great to have him in town. More on that later - gotta run to class. (and plan the weekend trip to Queenstown...woohooo.)
