Bulgaria
I arrived in Bulgaria planning to stay at least 5 day. But I ended up staying only one day (and very glad I could buy the ticket to go to Turkey in same night!).
I am sure there are 1000 very beautiful things to be seen in Bulgaria, but unfortunately we didn’t have enough time to wonder around its famous mountains and beaches. The only place we could visit was Sofia and maybe a bit of the country side around it.
I always wanted to go to Sofia ( as it is my favorite name) but when I go in there it was just a normal, ugly big city. We couldn’t even find anything special to visit. Once we got in the city we went direct to the tourist information to ask about the city’s attraction, they gave us a map with some parks and a cathedral on it. After walking 20 min we got to the place the park was supposed to be… but the only thing we could find was a garbage deposit. Quite sad!
We were very keen on visiting a bit of the country side, maybe some small villages. The tourist information officer informed us there was a very beautiful village with a monastery on the top of a mountain, one hour drive from Sofia. We had already heard from this place through people in the bus. It is supposed to be really very beautiful. Trying to get a bus to go there we discovered that there was no buses or any kind of public transports to the village at all (even not horses or donkeys!) The only way to reach the village was taxi… cost: 50 euros each way… solution: forget it, completely out of my budget!!!!
Lets go to Turkey
