My New Vacations?

So, I feel a little like complaining! I just received yet ANOTHER wedding invitation in the mail today…my presence is requested to witness the matrimonial binding of true love this March in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Don’t get me wrong…I think that weddings are important. However, ever since I have climbed into my late twenties, I seem to have a wedding to go to every couple of months. Now, normally the prospect of dressing up and getting free food and (quality) booze would be appealing. However, every nuptial event also represents a plane ticket, hotel reservation, rental car, purchase of a new dress, etc. etc. etc. I just moved to California, so, even weddings in my hometown of Austin no longer offer relief.

Of course, I can choose not to go…but, then I still have to send an expensive gift. And, I genuinely do want to celebrate with most of these friends, who are going through such a big life marker.

I just hate going broke! I also hate having to substitute a gazillion wedding weekends in places like Duluth, Minnesota for vacations to exotic locales like Southeast Asia or Peru. Can’t ONE person I know decide to get married somewhere exciting….Burma, perhaps?

Don’t complain! I haven’t been to a wedding in years, which makes me wonder . . . . hmm . . .come to think of it, none of my friends have CALLED in years either! :-)

If you’d like me to go in your place, I’ll be happy to! I’ve always wanted to go to Ann Arbor, but I’m not sure if I’ll fit into those high-heeled stillettos of yours.
