Luang Prabang

Luang Prabang is a UNESCO World Heratage town in Laos. It is incredibly beautiful both in it's nartual terrain surounding it and in the many old temples and French colonial buildings! It has got to be one of the most beautiful places I've been to yet!

Luang Prabang is a small city surounded by rivers on both sides and mountains in the distance. It is fairly touristy and has many world class guesthouse and restaurants but it still retains it's old charm. There are an amazing number of temples here even though the city is fairly small. Most of these temples are very beautiful (some of the most beautiful I've seen in Asia) and each one is has it's own trademark.
Here are some of the ones near my guesthouse.

Here is the main attraction in Luang Prabang. It is hard to appreciate how beautiful it is just in some pictures online.

This is all I have time to write about right now but please re-read the Vang Vieng entry. I am adding some descriptions now.

Hi JP-

I can't get over the pictures - absolutely gorgeous. The one with the lotus flower in it is especially nice - is it made out of glass?

We are holding down the fort back in Vermont, anziously trying to melt all the snow before you get home. Don't know if we'll do it or not but it's worth a try. Dad just measured and there is 4 feet in the back yard.

Take care and have a blast - hi to Kate

love ya - dori

PS. the baby geko is cute!!!

Thanks! I just put a couple more on this entry. Forgot to do them yesterday. I also have a couple of 30 second movie clips that I can show you when I get home. I wish they were small enough to put online but that would take to long.
See you soon!
