Sawat dee krup! My name is Jean Pierre Candelier. Very French although my family only vaguely knows of our French ancestry. My father is Dominican and mother Puerto Rican.

I went to school at Boston University and received a bachelors in Computer Science right at the peak of the internet boom. I got a few good years of experience before everything came crashing down. This past year has been a real test for me....unemployed, living back at home, ended a 4½ year relationship, and finally my mother dying a couple months ago. Through it all I've remained positive and I think my recent trip to Thailand has been my reward.

I've had a dream of going to South East Asia (in particular Thailand) for many years now. It started with my obsession with Thai food which is now stronger than ever. I spent 3 weeks there a couple of weeks ago and I already have tickets to go back! It was everything I expected and more. It didn't even cross my mind last time to start a blog but now that I am going back for a month or two I wanted to do this right. My first trip produced some amazing pictures and I want a place to share those with the stories that go along with them.

I will be extending my traveling to Cambodia, Vietnam and possibly Laos so keep checking to find out where I am!
