Oh, one last cricket thing...

Ok, I said I would write something every day, but I did not specify how long it would be (Yaay! An out!). And since yesterday's was about 6 pages of Times New Roman 12 point on the Word document I think I am entitled to a shorter piece today. Longer tomorrow.

Just wanted to say one last thing about cricket that I remembered - Test cricket is always played on real turf with real sod and real grass. Nothing artificial allowed, including light. The match must be played only in sunlight or it is not a legal match. That is why they always start around 11 am, play for 2 hours and then have a late lunch before continuing. Night games are illegal. They sometimes call a match for the day if it gets really cloudy and therefore too dark to play.

The pitch is always bare, unprepared (except for basic grooming) genuine dirt. It is illegal to scuff or tamper with it, or even for the bowler to walk in the imaginary center rectangle where the ball is likely to bounce, because that could alter the ground (and therefore affect the rebound properties of the surface). Might be cheating, see. Give future bowlers an advantage.

Well that's all for today. Night!
