Final Thoughts on Ireland

I've successfully made it on Aer Lingus, the national carrier of Ireland, from Dublin to Glasgow. When next I write, I'll tell about a Scottish wedding in Paisley, where the Paisley pattern was invented (they have a museum and everything about it. I'll go see it and tell you all the details.). Before we mentally leave Ireland, though, a quick bulletted list with thoughts and tips:

1) Pay attention to the change

They are on the Euro in Ireland (€ look - they even have it on the keyboard! €) and while the bills are in the denominations familiar to Americans, they are blessed with an enormous ammount of coins. They come in 1, 2, 5, 10 and 20 cent denominations, plus 1 and 2 Euro coins. There are no 1 Euro notes. The 2 and 5 are very similar copper coins, while the 10 and 20 are nearly identical gold coins. Both the 1 and 2 are two toned coins in concentric circles, but the silver and gold are reversed. It is confusing at first, but kinda handy once you get adjusted.

2) How to use the remote in Ireland

TVs are different in Ireland. If you want to turn one on using the remote, don't press the power button. Press the channel up or down button, which is the two arrows near a "p". I'm not sure what the refers to. position? picture? Any guesses? Only press the power button to turn it off. Other than that it is pretty standard.

Uhoh, time's up. More later.
