Welcome to my blog!

Ok, so June 1st was the date I set for myself awhile back as a date of no return.  Basically, this is where the planning begins and when I actually start taking the trip serious.   Here are the basics.  December 14th of this year should be my last day of work.   I’ll then take about a month to get any last minute planning done and around mid-January fly one-way to Bangkok and travel through (mostly) South East Asia.  This is my blog that will cover the planning and execution of this journey.  The only definites so far are that I will be in Thailand, Cambodia and Laos… anything else is in addition and not concrete.

For those who don’t know me… I am 25 right now but will be 26 at the time of this trip.  I live in Tampa, Florida.  I was never into school all that much unless the subject involved some kind of social science.  I love geography and history and by taking this trip I hope to learn more about Asia.  When I return I my main goal is to not have to rely on a cubicle job and would like to go back to school for a degree in something I actually enjoy,  even if on the surface it doesn’t have a lot of options for me.  Maybe geography or history with a minor in education?

I am shooting for atleast 6 months but that could be cut short or last even longer depending on what happens while i’m on the road.  I plan on having everything saved for the trip by December 15th 2006 so that means a strick saving schedule until then.  I’m at about 40% of my goal as of today and moving back home for a few months before the trip will help out even more.

I hope you enjoy reading my entries. I can only imagine there will be large spaces inbetween posts for the next couple of months but anytime I have a major update on my planning it will go here.
