Coventry, VT

August 13-15, 2005 This was it, the last Phish show ever! We were packed into a tiny rental car with our friend Scott and drove up to Coventry, VT where we waited in a non moving line for 36 hours. After a long eternity, Mike Gordon spoke on the radio of how the fields were flooded and they were not able to accomadate all the people who had bought tickets due to the mud. (This is ...

what the grounds looked like). We were without sleep and rational thought, and when we heard the announcement weighed the options and decided to go to Burlington, and try to enjoy the weekend anyway. We got a hotel, and went to Magic Hat brewery and hung out. After a while, we saw a CNN newscast of the festival, and saw thousands of people had abandoned their cars on the highway, and were trekking in. In a quick assessment we decided that missing the show was not an option. We packed up our stuff and drove back to the area. We found a side road in and a place to park in a field, where we were shuttled in by the neighboring farmers on their flatbed trailers for 10 dollars. We only took what we could carry, and did not bring a tent. The trailer dropped us off a mile away and we hiked the rest of the distance. The vibe at the show was almost eerie. There was a sense of accomplishment mixed with sadness and reflection. The show went on, although we we not able to locate Terry and Kristin, our touring companions. We had been separated from all our friends we had been traveling on tour with. By luck, we finally came across them and our friend JP and crew, and made a little circle of friends. It was an sad moment when Phish drew The Curtain on an amzing career! Tho whole spectrum of what we learned and the people we've become just from going to Phish shows is difficult to even put into words. We are very thankful for the special times we got to spend with our Phamily!
