September 08, 2004Howth
HOWTH Howth (rhymes with 'both') is an amazing place! reminded me a bit of Kiama actually, a bit more european though (obviously, since we ARE in europe .. dur) ANYWAYS...so we caught the bus 31 (a or b) from the northside of town, Lower Abbey St, took 20mins to get there, no worries...
The buildings were cute and quaint, but the thing that got us all were the FISH AND CHIPS! man, YUM, hello peoples!? defianltey going back to Howth just for the fish and chips...all up cost us about €17 which is not cheap, but it was nice We walked up to Howth Castle, looked around a bit took photos..couldnt get into the castle so we decided to go into the town of Howth. The Castle was beautiful from the outside, we couldnt get in because i dont think they have public viewing...its a shame but i was happy with just getting a picture taken outside... We walked past a golf course and geeky looking irish men were playing golf and I stumbled across a stray golf ball! I was so excited, i took that as a good omen and took the golf ball with me...Anita was jealous! hahah and was trying to snatch it off me whenever she could...not quick enough my dear :P Its very small and there isnt much but its very nice scenery, mountains looking out to sea and the Bailey lighthouse was a good place to have some photos taken...we slept a bit on the grass in the park and talked and headed back home - weather was fabulous and the day ended up being fantastic! The lighthouse was very tiny, but i guess that doesnt matter! as long as it does its job and stops the boats crashing on shore! There were a number of gorgeous boats in the bay and the water and sky looked so nice in my pics that I had to put some of these up online. The weather was just perfect and we couldnt have asked for a better day!
