July 24, 2004Arrived in Dublin
Well well, im in Dublin, finally made it to the land of clovers after going to the land of basketball...wow...its amazing here but its really really really oh, and really expensive here, not funny at all...its actually worse than London...food and accomodation mostly... Ann and Anita found a really nice apartment, its very small but quite cute...i like it...am getting used to now living without my mums amazing cooking!! i miss it heaps... Im going to be looking around and seeing how the city is for a couple of days, getting things organised before finding a job...i have my name down in 2 agencies and i should be fine (ill laugh if i get a job at HP) The weather here is nice...there is always a bit of sun but there is also wind and rain...u definatley need an umbrella when walking the streets..everyone is really friendly and say hello when u pass, but on the other hand, there are some who bump into you without saying anything and keep walking...people really mind their own business here as well, people pass by without looking at you where as in Sydney, people always check out what the other person is wearing or looks like blah blah blah...life here (and especially in New York) is a bit more social and people dont just work (as opposed to Sydney) there are always people shopping or walking the streets during the week...A LOT of people, if u walk the streets of Sydney, no one but tourists are there shopping for kangaroos and gum leaves, i like that about here...that no one stresses and life is as much about socialised as it is about work...its a nice change for a while.. jetlag is the most annoying thing by the way...i have been in 5 planes in the last week and im over it...ive learnt to be a bit patient though when it comes to public transport! im pleased to say that im a good waiter now..i went to the wrong train station where i was supposed to meet Ann and was waiting there for over 2 hrs with no way of contact excpet email...but eventually it worked out... ok, im going to go back to the apartment, its 8:45 and still light! the sun sets at about 10:30 here! we are going to be having a special 'welcome to Jasmen' dinner! hehe Comments
