Emails make a good entry!

========================================
TIEN!

yeah "no worries" about not writing me sooner I know you're busy with school and all. they say no worries down here alot. it's funny. anyway so what is up!!! oh my god I have so much to write about that I haven't even updated in my blog yet. we found a place to live already if you can believe it after only 2 days of seriously looking! yesterday was saturday here so we bought the sydney herald which has a tonne of listings for shared accomodations. didn't have much luck. went to a job fair for working holiday visa makers and applied for a shiet load of temp agencies. we've decided to work in the office (boo) but only cuz we want to save our money up and then do whatever after...more travelling, partying! anyway the job fair was right down by the sydney opera house so we enjoyed the view and also the famous sydney harbor bridge. took a lot of pics. the weather has been rainy and miserable since we arrived but yesterday was the hottest day and the sun was shining! I was a little scared since I didn't apply any suntan lotion and the UV rays down here are much stronger since we are below the equator or whatever.

anywho so we just walked around took some pics and headed back to our hostel. we just happened to see a posting on one of the lamp posts that had been posted the same day. we went to go see this other ghetto place that is shared by a bunch of fobs and they were asking $95 per week (it goes weekly here as opposed to monthly) and that is pretty dirt cheap in sydney. it can range from $95 to about $200+ a week for shared accomodation (meaning sharing with fellow backpackers/travellers in a house or apartment). anyway so the ghetto fobby place was too ghetto even for linda so we were disappointed. then the next place we went to was the place we saw the posting for. it's this croatian dude's place he's like in his 50's and there's also another english girl living there at the moment. the place is NICE tien. so we took it!!! the room we get is pretty big. there's 1 double bed in it as well as a bunk bed which has the double bed on the bottom. there's also a balcony with a great view since it's on the 12th floor. the bathroom has a huge ass bathtub and a clean glass shower stall and the kitchen and living room are great as well. there's also a deck that you can go out on and have some breakfast or just read a book ya know chillax.

anyway so after our little tour the guy handed us some juice boxes which was funny for some reason haha. he has a thing for linda cuz he's always wanting to hug her and stuff!! haha I just laugh along with them but the place seems pretty awesome for only $90/week (per person). we had to put down a $150 bond/deposit and he gave us our keys and we move in monday! awesome eh?? I'm so excited. I guess some things just happen for a reason man. if you do decide to come visit that is an awesome place for you to stay with us in cuz there is an extra single bunk above my bed!!!! or you could share my bed or linda's bed too! oh yeah $90/week includes the bills too! we got a tv and a dvd I think I can't remember I was too shocked to see how awesome it was yesterday. we also have a phone in the room. and the washer and drier are in the apartment. there's also a swimming pool and gym too! it's not totally central downtown but it's about a 20 minute walk to the harbour which is close to downtown.

tomorrow we have an appointment with an agency and we will most likely get interviews for a market reasearch position. it's outgoing calls at a call centre but I think it should be okay cuz it's scripted and you probably input their answers. it pays freaken $18/hour! well training is for like a week or so but they still pay $14.75/hour for training! do that for a few months and then we won't have to do office work anymore! I seriously don't want to do office work but there are some benefits I guess. like using the internet for free at work or photocopier or phone. just until I find a cooler job. yesterday I also applied for virgin records and a quiksilver store. there is actually a ROXY store here!!! I haven't dropped off my resume there yet. but gosh that would totally be my dream job. I would get fat discounts and I wouldn't mind just standing all day in that store. I would be looking around for clothes as I worked!! hahah!

but yeah I miss you and anh and everyone back home. can't believe it's snowing there! any plans for halloween? me and linda are going to party it up once we're settled in our new place. it's just weird living out of our backpacks and staying at the hostels. although we're currently sharing our room with this italian guy named simone and he is hilarious! I love his accent. he reminds me of jordan catalano from my so-called life if you ever watched that show. he's funny. yeah we stayed at this first hostel for 3 nights and it was gross. it smelled funky and the room was small. you couldn't really hang in the room unless you stood around! haha and yeah the smell was just sick. so we changed hostels to across the street! haha it's a bit better. more spacious. although we thought we asked for an all girl room, 4 people sharing but it turned out to be the italian dude and this english guy. there's a bathroom in our room too which the other place didn't have but yeah it was weird sharing it with 2 guys. now it's just the italian guy though so it's not that bad. we also met a few fellow albertans. I talked to these 2 cute guys from jasper on the elevator and then I also met a guy from lethbridge who was drunk and his friend tried on my glasses and then another guy from hinton. did you see the pics on my site? what do you think of my fob glasses? haha I'm wearing them right now actually. contacts are just too much of a hassle when you are travelling! anywho, sarah just signed on to msn. haha it's funny everyone is still on msn even when they are halfway around the world eh? I wonder how she's enjoying it. I found thailand to be okay and linda said it was alot better than vietnam and a richer country. but some of the smells let me tell you. you know how it is hot and humid and then you smell something stinky...god I almost puked several times. it was pretty bad in bangkok actually everywhere in the city in thailand. the beaches we went to were so nice though. I guess I've put everything in the blog so I don't want to repeat myself. I'm just excited to have a place to stay in. the hostels are costing us about $25/night so that can become quite costly especially when you compare it to our $90/week apartment! I just hope that old guy doesn't become creepy and be all weird or something hahah you know me and my paranoia! my mommy always tells me to TNO! TRUST NO ONE! haha anywho, so when are you done DONE school?? you should totally come visit soon man. linda is going to meet up with ty in february in vietnam for like 2 months. I think I might fly out with her and stay with mina for a while but I'll probably come back and chillax by myself I guess. don't want to be the 3rd wheel in vn! hopefully by then I will at least have met some other people and won't be a loser. we want to go down to melbourne too so maybe if you come out we can all go there together. there's always so many job postings for nurses I swear. you could get a job so easy! just tell anh to come with! we haven't done anything remotely close to clubbing not even went out for beers yet really. I have about $10 in my wallet and then only 1 more travellers check for $100 cdn and thats it! we opened up bank accounts but are waiting for the card to come in the mail. I don't really want to rely on my funds from my bank at home so I have to spend wisely. can you believe it's been almost a month since we left! does it even feel like it? haha yeah you said in your email that time seems to be passing by quick but also slow at the same time. I totally agree. but anywho, I've been rambling this whole email so maybe I'll send it now. I could just copy and paste this email to my blog. maybe I will! haha okay ttyl.
miss ya,
jazz

mina,
yeah man I need a cell for that reason! well that was before we FOUND A PLACE TO LIVE!!! you can read all about it in my blog. but gosh we found a nice place mina. you gotta come visit cuz there is an extra bed. $90/week is an awesome deal too bills included!! the dude even has a rice cooker! hahah! and he like loves linda so I'm sure he is pretty easy going if there are any problems. we only really looked for 2 days and then we found an awesome place. it was weird to look for a "flat" too since I've never done that before. but it was pretty simple once you got into that mind frame. we basically just sat in the hostel and made calls from our "mobiles" until we found a place that sounded decent and we went to go take a look at their place. there was actually a place with 2 girls from ottawa that we looked at and it was pretty decent. a small room with 2 single beds for $125/week, good location. but their friends ended up getting the money together so they moved in. they were really nice though and it was nice to see other canadians. maybe you know them? haha just cuz they are from ottawa. their names were rebecca and lisa. ring a bell? haha anywho I don't know how you text me. I think linda said you drop the 0 in the front and you have to dial the area code but I don't know what it is haha. something like 61 or something. no one calls me. except this one dude. we went to look at his place which was SO GHETTO ewww...it was only $80/week but ew. the bathroom was so gross and the house was so old. he's like there's another toilet it's in the backyard hahahah. needless to say we got out of there as fast as we could! we also looked at this other place which had a spectacular view but they were asking $160/week per person. that's kinda expensive for our blood. and it was dirty too but only cuz the guys that were moving out worked construction or something. the view was awesome though. I can't say no to a great view! welps you should come visit sometime eh? before we leave sydney. there is an extra bed for you! I'll take some pics once we get settled in...

Very and still overwhelmed by your events!! but i am so proud of you and Linda. sounds like you girls are doing so well over there... and i have a feeling you aren't going to come back to etown for a long while since you are adjusting so well over there! You guys got your place and interviews.... good job! Man i dunno if i could do that! i'm scared to move out of my own home even if i still stay in etown! your place sounds nice though and you guys got a good deal. Sounds like australia totally caters to all the tourist people that come around eh? Which is soo good for all tourist people! Some reason i thought that finding jobs, places and all that stuff would be tough but you two are managing fine and dandy in aussie eh?? Congratulations to you and linda for making it through the first month (well just about!). Love your pictures.. very nice. I love those buddha statues. Looks like you girls are having a blast. Weird to think that you are gonna go back to work especially in the office! but damn that is some good pay and should take care of moola issues for the next little while! what's the minimum wage over there anywho? is it expensive there? also can't wrap my head around the idea that it is summer over there??? just cuz its very white and snowy over here... miss it yet? the weather's been alright cuz it hasnt' snowed again and the temperature usually stays above -10. life here is same as usual. but anywho.. i hope the move into the new place was good.
have a great one!

Finally got caught up on all that writing! How do you connect? A wireless 'net card?

Your mom is so cool. I love all her "Mom-isms". I think it's so neat how she knows TTYL and stuff. My mom freaked when java script refused to load on their old computer and she couldn't shop at the Sears discount place. hee hee.

Halloween almost here. I am debating going as a "show girl" just kidding, I'm going to go as Pocahontas I think. My hair's long enough now...

Scott and I finally got our engagment photos done...by this time next year I"ll be a married woman...are you going to be back by then? Don't stay away so long that when you come back I've got rug-rats running around!

Anyway, glad to hear all the great exciting stuff. Watch out for those Italians...they're so richo-swauve! ha ha. Just Yokes.

Be Good,
Michelle
