Hello! Coming to you from Phuket!

hey all, jazz here coming to you from the island of Phuket in Thailand. It's our 2nd day here and I'm a little tired and sun burned from today's activities. We went on a day tour to an island called Phi Phi (PEE-PEE). it took about 1 1/2 hours by boat to get to the island. we passed maya bay where the movie the beach was filmed. linda opted to go on a snorkeling tour to maya bay while I sat on the beach and suntanned (sunburned) myself. we got lunch which consisted of french fries, fried rice, fried chicken and other assorted goodies. a nice cold coke was 30 baht which is the equivalent to just under a dollar. we hung out on the beach some more until the boat came to pick us up for a long journey back to phuket. linda had a little too much fun in the sun and got a little sea sick :P anywho, we have a free day tomorrow. we might take a 5 hour tour around phuket and then go to a buffet and show tomorrow night for $50 (we're splurging!) I'm getting quite sick of buffets. usually at each hotel we stay at we get 'free' breakfast buffets...lots of bacon, eggs, and other fried food!
I haven't had a chance to really write about the earlier part of our trip. let's just say the day we departed was the day from hell. our flight was delayed a good 5 hours and we ended up missing our flight to san francisco to korea. with a large amount of bitching and complaining, my good friend linda managed to get us 2 nights at the doubletree hotel in san fran with $40 meal vouchers for each of us. by the time we hit san fran I was working on about 2 minutes of sleep that I managed to catch from seattle to san fran. the reason we were delayed so long was due to the fog (haha I typed FOB) in seattle. so we ended up losing one of our nights in korea and the jerks charged us anyway! the co-op residence where we stayed was a huge disappointment. the subway was crazy and confusing but somehow we managed. the market was okay but nothing compared to here in thailand. all I have to say is that singapore airlines ROCKS! each seat has a tv in the back of the chair and you have any movie you want! our 12 hour flight from san fran to korea flew by. I watched parts of kill bill 2, troy, mean girls and the terminal. the food was okay and even included a small cup of hagen daz!!! I was impressed! the even hand out hot towels before the flight! anywho, enough about the plane trip. we came to the conclusion that the people in seattle are retarded and the people in san fran don't speak english. oh right I forgot to mention that our bags were lost for a few hours in the san fran airport. can you imagine the time we had! people kept telling us they were probably on the way to korea but we had to spend the night in san fran. I wanted to cry, faint, scream and yell. we named the day from hell "Operation Find my tickets, find my flight, find my bags, NOW!". okay so I'm jumping from story to story and not making much sense but hey can you blame me! there were lots of things that happened since we left a week ago! now let's move onto bangkok. what can I say about it...love it! except for the rancid smell on the streets, the shopping was awesome and the place we stayed was fantabulous! our hotel was situated right in a small shopping district called siam square...tonnes of shops and lots of activity around! I guess it's a teeny bopper's hang out...so I fit right in! didn't buy too much, linda did most of the shopping and I lived vicariously through her spending but it was a good 3 nights. we had a 1/2 day tour around bangkok and saw some awesome temples and huge golden buddhas. it was a very cultural experience and I would love to go back and learn more. they have pictures of the king and queen everywhere you look. they worship them and celebrate every little thing. we also went on a dinner cruise and dressed up too! I bought a cute blue dress for about $30 and borrowed one of linda's many pairs of shoes she purchased. it was cool. we made friends with one of the singers and he reminded me of jackie chan. I think he was a little tipsy cuz he kept telling me to sing shakira and was dancing a bit close. hehe. the next morning we left for phuket, flew business class too! it was only an extra $20 or so so we splurged. our hotel here in phuket is nice, great view of the water (sea, ocean I dunno!) but the beach ain't the hottest thing around. it looks kinda dirty. the beach on phi phi was super nice though! anyway our plan from here is to visit the islands of krabi and koh samui and then head over to sydney. can't wait to get there! we actually met a cute aussie on the way to the airport in san fran and he was nice enough to give us all his contact info ;) haha who knows but I'm sure sydney holds a lot more fun and adventure for us!
anyway hope everyone is doing well. feel free to respond to this entry because I can read your comments. hope to get some photos up in the next few weeks too!
until then,
jazz :)

hey jazz, glad to hear that everything went....well, as good as it'll probably get. hahahah, that was a hilarious story, i don't think i ever heard of a trip that started off on such a bad foot. but sounds like you'll survive the year there, with many more adventures to come, i'm sure.

today is thanksgiving, and i'm turkey-less, so i think i'll indulge in some kfc or something chicken related in place of the turkey. nothing new is happening...hence deadmonton. pretty sad that christopher reeves aka superman died...but either than that nothing happened. oh yes, you missed an awesome fireworks show at churchill for the 100th birthday bash. i forgot to bring a digital camera, but i brought a regular film camera, so hope that it turns out somewhat for me to scan to you.

so yes, you girls have a good time!! especially you jazz!!

luv n miss ya lots!!

Jazz: I'm glad you liked Bangkok...geez and here you were so jaded thinking what the hell is in Thailand!! I told you visiting other exotics places besides the US of A and developing countries can be fun! Anywho sorry to have missed you girls in Phukey. I am very disappointed. I think if you can survive the disaster at the airport, you can survive a year of Aussie ;) good luck!

Hi-dee-ho Joe:
Sounds like the usual awesome, rememberable trip of a lifetime. What's a trip without a little bit of adventure?
How do you pronounce that place you're in now? (Fuh-Kitt?) hee hee.
Went to the Alberta Provincial Museum for Edmonton's 100th. Walked right into some kid's fart cloud and that totally ruined the day for me. Adopted a new cat...yes, that's 3 now :) and named her Saharah. She's a Lynx Point Crossed with Siamese. Kind-of monkey like.
You know what I'm totally interested in...all that cool food! Make sure you start conditioning your stomach so you can eat all that stuff. Make sure you write a detailed diary about it.

Scott and I got our engagement photos done. Some are good, some are scary.

Girl Guides is taking me camping this weekend....it's supposed to snow!

Turkey weekend was great. Ate 2 pieces of pie: Apple and Pumpkin. Lemmie know if you need a recipie out there and I'll send it along.

Now I know you're thinking, what can I get Michelle while I'm here? Well it just so happens I am on a Girl Guide badge bindge...so if you're around a place that has Girl Guides stuff, pick me up some...I'd love to make the other's jealous with some really cool foreign badges or pins. I can send you anything you want/need from Canada if you can hook that up for me. I hear you can make a killing on Levi's!

Okay, enough rambling...Scott and I drove past the old 'hood on Sunday. I saw Kim Tisher's house. Remember all the guys making her try to touch her elbow's behind her back? ha ha ha.

OK, have a great time! Soak up the sun for me and keep me posted!

Hey Jazz!!!

Sorry, I've been slacking with the whole email thing (of course!) At work right now and on break so I decided to read your little cool travel log thingamjig.....!! Sound like you guys had an interesting start!! I especially liked the part where Linda bitched....ahhh...I miss her already!! And I can't believe you burned!!!! What the heck...I thought you were miss tanning...oohh I'm so bronzed...ohh look at me I have a glow!!!! Hahahah I'm just kidding....but anywho. Let's see, thanksgiving was alright. Tien and I were too lazy to go to the Aunt and Uncle's for dinner that we stayed at home and ordered KFC. But then the restaurants ran out of chicken....so we had to get ghetto "Chicken on the Way". Hmm...and I am seeing that Sean guy or makeout guy since Sarah likes to call him that. We all went bowling together, you know with Sarah and Yasu's crew, Tien and Huong. During bowling milkshake started playing and then I realized..."omg!! where the hell is Jazz!!"... I think I was ready to cry! But anywho gotta get back to work...but you keep taking care of yourself and tell Linda I miss her too!! Love ya gals...and of course...You can send handbags via airmail back to Anh!!! Heheheh can't wait for your next post!

Hey Jazzers,

Guess I did the reading ass-backwards. I was reading your diary from the last entry. Now I seem to have caught on. I am glad the "Seattle to San Fran" jaunt turned out ok. Aunt Wanda was worried about you too. She was already to pick you girls up at the airport. But as Gerry always says, "It will all work out"....and it did, will. It sounds like your friends really miss you too. Everyday I think about you and where you are. I had dinner with Eileen and Bon W yesterday. They were asking about you. Eileen, being the BA (born again) is going to include you in her prayers which is good cuz the more people thinking positive thoughts about you the better. Ok, I'm heading into the next set of reading. Comment later. Love, Mommy & Gerry. P.S. TNO! and take care of that burn!
