July 10, 2005The Great Frankfurt Escape
So we elected to fly low-fare leader Ryanair to Dublin, and they were fine, quick to get us there and on time. However, since we started our trip at the wrong airport, it was a bit stressful! The main Frankfurt airport is ultramodern, beautiful and clean, and has its own train station for easy connections to the city. It is the transport hub of Europe and an enormous airport. However, the Ryanair flight departed from Frankfurt Hahn, an airport one and a half hour's drive away from the airport that we were at. Frankfurt Hahn is everything Frankfurt Main is not; small, dinky, uncomfortable. Nonetheless, we had to go there, for the low, low, affordable cab fare of €150. Hopefully, that will be the most expensive cab ride I will ever take. When we got to Dublin, I was thankful, to say the least. Our guesthouse manager is a Liverpool supporter, so we got on well!
