Bern

John and I spent the early part of our second day here arranging accomodation and transit for the next little bit, we are booked up for the next week and a bit, which makes me happy.

We then spent the rest of the day at the Bern Historical Museum, where the feature of the day was Albert Einstein.

Einstein, one of Bern's most prominent residents, is the feature of a yearlong celebration of his life and work. His face is everywhere, decorating trams and buildings. The exhibit is excellent and divided into two parts: his life and his work.

The life section is very interesting because it expands past Einstein into the daily life of the time. It has poignant focus on the Holocaust. It also tells us that Einstein was a womanizer, had sweaty feet and deliberately tried to appear as the mad scientist by combing his hair back.

We then walked around Bern, taking in the Swiss Parliament buildings and the 15th century Münster, closed to visitors due to a wedding. We then stood on a bridge above the river Aare, watching the Bernese float on the rapid current and seeking a relief from the heat of the day.

We then went to a Let's Go recommended restaurant near our hotel to try the local beer and grab dinner. It was expensive, but it wrapped up the day nicely.

hahaha, now these are the kind of things I'd like to know about Einstein...womanizer???? Didn't he marry his 1st or 2nd cousin cause he didn't go out much and therefore didn't meet people?

Tomorrow I'm going to clean a friends house for $40 (it's a disaster).

I went home for my brother's grad. He is one of 3 graduates in a class of 7 students. I'm so proud of him.

Miss ya!
